Did you know I keep a journal? No, I guess I haven't written about that before.

I try to write short stories whenever I can. They're really short. Pretty much short short stories. Microstories? Anyway, I'm working on one now. Here is the outline:

• A woman in her early twenties, who is very charming.
• A man in his late forties, who is very overbearing.
• The story begins on an oil-rig.
• It's a story about risk-taking.

I like writing about people like me in their twenties, trying to figure out our place in the world. I often hear older people say they wish they were still in their twenties, but I think they forget about how difficult a time it is.

That's why I want to include a character who is older and in his late forties. Sort of there to provide a counterpoint.

I don't know why I wanted the story to begin on an oil rig. That part is weird, but maybe the woman is a new hire on the rig and she has to deal with the tension of being surrounded by older men. Lots of possibilities there I guess!

But the central theme is all about tasking risks, which I think is in a way what life is all about.
